Coding Girls Western Visayas together with Saving Innocent Lives Amidst War (SILAW) Inc., Maven, and WordPress Iloilo is launching an initiative called I’mPossible. The project has been initiated by Coding Girls Western Visayas in partnership with Parole and Probation Administration Region VI last April, 2018. With the support of the US Embassy Cultural Affairs Section with the assistance of JJWC Secretariat, we would like to institutionalize the ICT skills training with female parolees and probationers that we have started together with.
I’mPossible is a skills development and employment opportunity network for women under parole or probation in Region VI. The project will organize a 12 session skills training where they will learn about basic Information and Communication (ICT) skills.
I’mPossible has the following objectives:
- Develop positive behavior, self-management, and life skills that equip women and their children that they may be reintegrated to the society through economic opportunities.
- Build the psychosocial well-being of the children; prevent juvenile delinquency and CICLs from re-offending.
- The launching will inaugurate our advocacy to empower women parolees and probationers, their children and CICLs to be part of the IT industry.
During the launching, print and TV media coverage will be done to increase awareness of the advocacy. It will also encourage support from other government agencies, private institutions and possible employers.
An initial assessment of all participants will be conducted during this phase. This will benchmark the initial knowledge of the participants on coding and programming. This will also be used to assess the changes in the participants’ aptitude and behavior.
